(20 Aug 1925, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Grandpa Lewis Mason 60 Years.
Sixty years ago today (Thursday) Grandpa Lewis was made a Master Mason at
Bellville, Texas, and has declared the day a holiday and is celebrating
the event in good health for a man of his 90 years and four months.
Grandpa is an old Civil War Veteran, having served the full duration of
that war and his experiences are interesting and numerous.
We trust that grandpa will see many more Masonic Anniversaries and feel as
good then as he does now.

Grandpa Lewis, born in the Old Country in 1835, and with a brother came to
this country when he was twelve years of age, and settled in Austin
County, Texas.  He was married to Miss Eunice Rebekah Dixon of
Nelsonville, Tex.  Eleven children was born to this union, of which six
are living three boys and three girls, E. A. Lewis and Bob Lewis of Erick,
Sol Lewis of Sayre, Mrs. Leo Meyers of Tulsa, Mrs. C. H. Clay, Shamrock,
Texas, and Mrs. Hayword Sanderson of Arkansas City, Kans.  Their mother
having passed from this life April 4th, 1897, twenty eight years ago.
Grandpa as he was known by every one here, was made a master mason at
Bellville, Texas, Sixty years ago, and at the time of his death held his
membership with the Sayre lodge.  He recently underwent an operation in
Tulsa but seemed to be feeling fine until a few days before he passed from
this life, Sept. 4th.  The remains were taken to Oklahoma City, and were
laid to rest in the Fair Lawn Cemetery.
