(3 May 1928, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): The many friends are mourning the death of Mrs. Mary McCubbins, who died last Friday. This dear old Grandma, almost blind and very feeble was loved by all who came in her bright presence. Mrs. McCubbins has been a resident of Erick for many years. She is one of those dear old mothers whose memory will be cherished and live on forever with those children and loved ones who are waiting their call to meet her in heaven. A number of Erick folks attended the funeral. (10 May 1928, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): MRS. MARY B. McCUBBINS Mary B. Walker was born December 5th, 1844, at Strawberry, Plains, Tenn. She was saved by grace at the age of fourteen and united with the Methodist Church at Massy, Oreck, Tenn., in which communion she lived a consistent christian life for sixty eight years. She was married to Elbert McCubbins, January 29th, 1865. To this union six children were born - two boys and four girls. One son died in infancy, five children living to maturity, all born into the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ at an early age through the christian teaching of a true, godly Mother. Mother McCubbins died at Delhi, Oklahoma, April 28th, 1928, after a long and trying illness, in the faith and patience of the true christian she has always been surrounded by her devoted children and grandchildren who survive her. Funeral from Delhi Methodist Church May (sic) 29th. Interment at Delhi cemetery. Mrs. Sarah E. Mitchell and Mrs. Cora M. Campbell are the only children of hers who remain, with their families and a host of friends, to mourn the departure of the sainted mother. One grandson is a Baptist Pastor in East Oklahoma. The grand daughters at her bedside are: Mrs. Mary Ray Cooper; Mrs. Rene Head; Mrs. Herbert Stringer; Mrs. Raymond Barnes; and Mrs. Luna E. Hersey. There is a large number of great grand children. W.
