Sr. (19 Jan 1905, Erick Enterprise, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Father McGowen, who died at his home here yesterday morning was interred in the Erick cemetery this afternoon. Funeral services were conducted at the residence by Rev. Hale the Methodist pastor, of which he was a member. Death of J. H. McGowen. J. H. McGowen, father of W. T. and J. H. McGowen, of McGowen Bros., died at his residence yesterday (Wednesday) morning quite unexpectedly, although he had been an invalid for many years. He was about 70 years old and had been a constant sufferer for many years and no doubt, death came as a relief, though he would have preferred to stay with his family longer. Besides W. T. and J. H. McGowen, he was father of Mrs. P. A. Maloy of Delhi, and he had a son and daughter in Texas. He leaves an aged companion to mourn his departure, but she is not without hope of again being with him in the glory of the great beyond. He was a devoted Christian man and a good citizen and had always commanded the greatest respect of his friends and neighbors. He lived many years in Texas, where he raised his family and moved here about two years ago where he hoped to recover, if possible, and he could spend his last days near his two sons. He leaves a wife, three sons and two daughters to mourn his death, who have the sympathy of their many friends here and elsewhere.
