(21 Jul 1927, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): G. H. McMillin (sic) was born December 15th, 1844, near Chattanooga, Tenn., at the age of 16 he volunteered in Co. I, First Tennessee Cavalry, and served until the end of the war in Joe Wheeler Brigade. He later moved to Texas and was married there August 30th, 1887 to Miss Kathren Barnett. To this union was born three children, Mrs. A. M. Wolverton of Parsons, Kans., Dick McMillin and Jessie McMillin at the home address, and two grandsons, Emerald Wolverton, Ft. Riley, Kans., Elma Wolverton, of Parsons, Kans. At the time of his death he was 83 years, 5 months and 10 days old, Mr. McMillin met his death on July 10th in an automobile accident near Tula Rosa, New Mexico, he had started to Hot Springs, New Mexico for his health. The body was brought back and layed to rest beside his wife at Texola. Mrs. McMillin passed away May 29th, 1915. Mr. McMillin united into the Christian Church in September 1906 at Texola, but he belonged to the Presbyterian Church since early manhood. Jessie accompanied her father on the trip and was driving the car when the accident occurred.
