W. Milly (sic) of Sayre died at an Elk City Hospital last week, and was buried at Texola. His son, D. L. Miley, son-in-law of J. D. White is in the hospital dangerously ill. Grandma Long and Miss Ellen White from here attended the funeral. (23 Jun 1927, Sayre Journal, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): GEORGE WASHINGTON MILEY Was born in Northern Alabama the seventeenth day of December in the year Eighteen Hundred and Seventy-Two. He died at Elk City, Oklahoma, the thirtieth day of May Nineteen Hundred and Twenty-Seven, being Fifty four years, five months and thirteen days of age. Besides his numerous friends, Bro. Miley leaves behind to mourn his departure, his faithful wife, who was Mrs. Fanny Collins, before their marriage at Texola fifteen years ago December tenth. He also leaves seven living children, whose mother before her marriage to Bro. Miley was Mrs. Ola Ward. There are Mrs. Mattie McDonald of Borger, Texas; Leroy Miley, near Doxey; Mrs. Maud Beck of Seminole, Okla.; Lon Miley of Sayre; Mrs. Myrtle Hicks of Phoenix, Arizona; Mrs. Mary Johnson, near Doxey; and Claude Miley who also lives on the farm near Doxey. Bro. Miley obeyed the gospel under Baptist ministry in his early life, later uniting with the Church of Christ at Texola. He united with the Sayre Christian Church one year ago at Easter time.
