Mrs. Nixen lived near here last year and all who knew her loved her. She was a noble Christian woman and belonged to the Mt. Carmel church here. We extend to her bereaved husband and children our deepest sympathy in this their greatest hour of trouble and sorrow. What can be sadder than the death for three growing boys and two girls. They will never see a greater loss. Dennis. (28 May 1908, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Died. At her home about four miles southwest of Erick Saturday morning, May 23, Mrs. J. C. Mixon. Mrs. Mixon had been ill for about three weeks, but it was thought that she was getting better when a change came about 36 hours before she died and nothing could be done to relieve her. Mrs. Mixon was a consistent member of the Baptist church and was a most lovable character. She is survived by her husband and five children, besides her aged father, S. A. Rogers, sisters, Miss Lorena Rogers and Mrs. Gus Koerth; Bros H. W. and Rufus Rogers, all of whom live in this immediate vicinity. Funeral services were conducted by Revs. Elder and Wilson and interment occurred in the Erick cemetery Sunday. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
