(14 May 1908, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. S. Morgan, one of Erick's old time residents passed away this morning at 9:25. He had been sick ten or twelve days. (21 May 1908, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): L. S. MORGAN IS DEAD Died at his home in Erick, May 14, at 9 o'clock a.m. Was born March the 7, 1859, age 49 years, 2 months, 7 days. Bro. Morgan was an unpretentious, straight-forward good citizen. A man of unquestionable integrity, a loving and indulgent father. He leaves a heartbroken wife and four sweet children and married son to mourn their loss. Bro. Morgan was converted at the age of 22 and joined the Baptist church and lived in its communion 14 years, after which he changed his church until his death. We laid him to rest in the Erick grave yard to wait the resurrection of the just, in the presence of a large congregation of Bro. Morgan's many friends, who showed their respects for him by their presence. May God bless the stricken home is our daily prayer. - W. M. Taylor, Pastor. (28 May 1908, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): CARD OF THANKS We, the undersigned, do hereby extend our heartfelt thanks to the friends of our dearly beloved and departed father and husband, L. S. Morgan, for their kindness and sympathy in our sad bereavement received during his illness and at the time of his death. J. D. MORGAN MRS. HATTIE MORGAN. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
