J. Neely who has been sick so long. It occurred on Thursday evening, May 25. The little girl was a patient sufferer for many days from which there seemed to be no relief except in the inevitable death, which comes to all alike, both old and young. But the eternal spirit of this little one now rests in peace from all pain on the beautiful shores of that eternal beyond and it beckons those who loved her to come on. The Enterprise tender the deepest sympathy to the bereaved parents and relatives in this sad hour of sore affliction. (25 May 1905, Greer County Republican, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): DIED. Thursday, May 25, at 6 p.m., Margaret Tennessee Neeley (sic), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Neeley, after a lingering illness. Miss Tenny made a brave fight for five weeks against septic fever, but her bravery together with the united efforts of Drs. Warford and Doss failed to obtain her recovery. Owing to the fact that death came to Miss Tenny just as we are going to press it is impossible for us to give more than meager details. Her bereaved father stated that yesterday was her tenth birthday anniversary. She is survived by her parents and six brothers and sisters among whom is Miss Ellen, a twin sister. Mr. and Mrs. Neely desire to express their gratitude to neighbors and friends for kindnesses shown them during the days their darling has been battling with death, and the Republican expresses the sentiment of the entire community by extending most sincere sympathy to them. If any person has ever spoken otherwise than kindly of the Neely family we do not know of it and the individual griefs of such people are sure to be felt by their neighbors. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. J. W. Hale tomorrow at 3 p.m. and interment will be made in the Erick cemetery. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
