He leaves a wife and three children and a large circle of friends, who have the sympathy of the entire community in this sad hour. The remains were laid to rest in the Delhi cemetery, August 20th. (6 Sep 1928, Thursday, Sayre Headlight, Sayre, Beckham Co, OK): Uncle Hans Nelson was born in Tander, Denmark, May the 12th 1854. Died August the 20th, 1928, and interment made in the Delhi cemetery. He came to America at the age of seventeen. He was converted in his twenty's and united with the Baptist church. He was married to Mollie Yeager, October 14, 1885. To this Union was born four children, Helen who died in infancy. Edward Nelson of Childress, Texas; Willie Nelson of Mangum and Mrs. Emma Day of Pampa, Texas, and other relatives left to mourn his passing. Uncle Hans Nelson was a man loved by all who knew him. He had a great circle of friends to mourn his departure. He was a man that was not afraid to die. He like a brave soldier, fought life's battles like a man and contested every inch of the battle field until the enemy had been conquered. He was a father to the fatherless brother to the brotherless and friend to the friendless. He met no strangers, as he looked up on all the race as pilgrams (sic) on a common journey toward the sunset of life's evening. He met them as wayfairers (sic) and joined hands and walked bravely as a brother to the last mile-stone that marked the destiny of all travelers. He leaves behind him the marks of a well spent life, being loyal to his home, loyal to his neighbors, loyal to his church and country. And Christ said unto the man of this type, Come unto me, you have been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things. A Friend to the Entire Family. Rev. G. W. Graham. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
