(8 Feb 1906, Greer County Republican, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Resolutions in Memorium. Whereas, The God of the Universe and of battles has seen fit to remove from us another one of our comrades of the 60's, by name W. W. Newton. We record his departure with sorrow but bow in reverence to Him who doeth all things well. And Whereas, Bro. Newton was a true and faithful soldier, and with unflinching courage was ever ready to discharge his duties at all times as a soldier. Whereas, His soldier-life on the battlefield as well as in camp was one of obedience and honor to the Confederate cause. And Whereas, He was also a true soldier of the Cross of Christ and fell upon the battlefield in the armor of the Great King, whom he loved to serve. Therefore, be it Resolved, By Camp Alamo, Erick, Okla., of which he was a faithful member, that in the death of Bro. Newton we have lost a most worthy comrade and Christian brother. And Resolved, That we extend our sympathy to the bereaved family and friends, and that a copy of these resolutions be furnished each of the Erick papers for publication and that a copy be presented to the widow and family.
