NICHOLS, HIRAM
(27 Aug 1925, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. Hiram Nichols was born in Graves county, Kentucky, March 24th, 1855,
was married to Miss Mary Hudspeth, December 12, 1881, at Collinsville,
Texas, six boys and two girls were born to this union, of which one girl
and two sons are living, namely, Mrs. C. C. Luman and Mr. Ole Nichols both
of Oklahoma City and Mr. Walter Nichols of Erick.  Mr. Nichols with his
family came to this country twenty-four years ago, and owned a farm north
of town and a residence in town.  He was a good citizen and was loved and
respected by all who knew him, and was known by a number of his friends as
"Uncle Pat."  He has been a sufferer for the past five or six years and
gradually grew worse, but at times seemed to be gaining in health until
last Thursday he took seriously sick and by Sunday was unconscious and
never gained consciousness.  He passed from this world Monday night August
24th at 10:30.  He died an easy death with not a struggle.  All his
children and his wife were with him when he passed away.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church Tuesday afternoon
at 3:30, by Bro. Davis of Abaline (sic), Texas, in the presence of a large
number of friends and relatives, and interment at the Erick Cemetery with
Odd Fellow honors under the supervision of the Fatheree Furniture Company
Funeral Directors.
We extend our heartfelt sympathy to Mrs. Nichols and children in their
hours of sorrow.
CARD OF THANKS
We wish to express our sincerest thanks and appreciation to the neighbors
friends and Odd Fellows who so willingly helped us during the illness and
death of my husband and our father and we especially want to thank Rev.
Glance and wife for the use of their home.

--Huston Tuck and George Hudspeth of Frederick, Oklahoma, nephews of Hiram
Nichols, deceased and Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Tuck, and Leo and Ivan Nichols of
Collinsville, Texas, relatives and children of Mrs. C. C. Luman, and Ole
Nichols and family of Oklahoma City, were in attendance at the funeral of
the late Hiram Nichols.
