(4 Jul 1907, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): W. A. Parvin, an old ex-confederate soldier, died Saturday night at 10 o'clock and was buried at Texola Sunday. He was a member of the Alamo camp U.C.V. at Erick and a member of the Free Methodist church. He was taken suddenly ill while attending church Saturday night and died at the home of a party near the church. The old veterans of both armies of the civil war are fast passing away and in a few years more will be but a memory and dream of the past. The war between the states is but a dream to us who spent the best years of our manhood to destroy each other of the same blood, and it is pleasant to think that it was but a dream. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
