All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ SCOGGIN, MARY (25 Jul 1907, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Grandma Scoggins (sic) Dead Mrs. Mary Scoggin was buried at the Texola cemetery in the presence of a number of friends and her own family on July 22, 1907. She was the mother of five living generations. Among the relatives present at the burial were Messrs. William, Hugh, and Melvin Cox, and Mrs. Emma Hawkins, all being her grandchildren, with Mrs. E. L. Cox, daughter of Mrs. Scoggin and mother of the above parties. A rare sight to see five generations all in one family at any one time. Mrs. Scoggins (sic) was a little more than 84 years of age, and at her death was making her home with her grand daughter Mrs. L. D. Hawkins. Mother Scoggin joined the Methodist church in early life and had lived a devoted and consistent christian life for more than 72 years. The left a beautiful and bright christian life and example for all who knew her to imitate and follow. Mother Scoggin is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, enjoying the smiling presence of the Great Father in the beautiful world beyond all cares and trials. In the language of the man of God, "Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his." The burial services were conducted by Rev. J. W. R. Bachman pastor of the M. E. church. (25 Jul 1907, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Grandma Scoggins (sic) was buried at the Texola cemetery Monday afternoon. She was 84 years of age and the mother of four generations. She was the grandmother of Mrs. Emma Hawkins, William, Hugh and Melvin Cox and is survived by great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. For over 72 years she was a member of the Methodist church and lived an exemplary Christian and died in the faith. Burial services were conducted by Rev. J. W. R.
