(10 Jul 1930, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Death Steals A Base on Veteran Ball Fan The body of Earl J. Seely, ardent baseball enthusiast, was being returned to Iona, Mich., Friday, not far from where in early days of baseball he "covered" big league games at Detroit and hobnobbed with the brightest stars of the game, as a newspaperman. Death claimed Seely, 72 years old, Thursday night, when he planned to attend Oklahoma City's first night game. His son, Earl W. Seely, was at his bedside at his Egbert hotel room. Adjudged the most useful citizen of Sayre in 1924, Seely was warned to quit the newspaper business or lose his eyesight. - Oklahoman. E. J.
