Fell asleep in Jesus, Sunday, March 6th, 1927, four o'clock P.M. Was laid to rest in the Erick burial ground, Monday, March 7th, 1927. Her funeral was preached at the Nazarene church of which she has been a faithful charter member. As a church we feel her loss deeply, she being the first of the charter members to pass on to the glory ahead of us. She was united in the bonds of holy matrimony to William J. Short, September 3rd, 1865. Eight children were born to this union, all of which were at her bedside when she departed except two. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, William J. Short, and the following children, Joe Short of Chehalas, Washington; Rev. Ben Short of Dabney, Okla.; Conrad Short of Marlow, Okla.; Rev. Otto Short of Erick, Okla.; Rev. Miles Short of Kansas City, Missouri; Mrs. Rhoda Whatley of Erick, Mrs. Nettie Baker of Marlow, Okla.; Mrs. Maude Hickey of Erick, Okla. She was converted at the age of nine years, united with the Missionary Baptist Church at the age of sixteen. She received the beautiful experience of entire sanctification thirty-eight years ago in a prayer meeting at her home. Three sons are preaching the doctrine and a host of friends have sought and found the experience of entire sanctification as exemplified by her holy life. It can be truly said of Mother Short's life as God's word expressed it her children shall rise up and call her blessed her dying admonition was "don't grieve for me when I am gone." but exhort the last to seek the Lord. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
