SHORT, WILLIAM JAMES
(14 Mar 1929, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
William James Short was born April 3rd, 1845 in Missouri.  Moved to Texas
when five years of age and lived there about fifty years and then came to
Oklahoma, where he has lived for almost thirty years.
On September 3rd, 1864 (his wife's obituary says 1865) he was married to
Mary Forth, to this union was born twelve children, five girls and seven
boys, four of them preceded their father across the river of death.  Five
boys and three girls living, all present for the funeral but one.
Grandpa Short was converted when a young man and united with the Methodist
Church, where he lived and labored for the cause of Christ for many years,
about two years ago he united with the Nazarene Church, where he remained
until called to his Eternal home.
On March 8th, 1929, he stepped across the river of death to meet Him, whom
he loved supremely.
He leaves eight children and a number of grand children and other
relatives and a host of friends looking forward to the time when they
shall meet him.
Age 83 years, 11 months and 23 days.
--- Mr. and Mrs. Miles Short of Stayton, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Connor Short
of Marlow; Mr. and Mrs. Baker of Marlow and Ben Short of Liberal, Kansas,
were here the latter part of the week to attend the funeral of their
father, Grandpa Short.
