Skipper died Tuesday morning of consumption, after a lingering illness of several months. Mrs. Skipper, formerly Miss Dona Reynolds, was only 26 years of age and married less than two years ago. Her husband survives her. She was a member of the Missionary Baptist church. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Galbraith and Mrs. Skipper was laid to rest in Erick cemetery yesterday morning. Although comparatively strangers here, Mr. and Mrs. Skipper have made many warm friends who mourn her death and sympathize with him in his bereavement. (22 Jun 1905, Erick Enterprise, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Died, at her home in this place on last Tuesday morning after several months of affliction, Mrs. Dora (sic) Skipper, wife of J. C. (sic) Skipper, who moved here last winter. She was a consumptive, from which she had suffered continuously and death came, no doubt, as a relief. Her remains were interred in the Erick cemetery yesterday at about 12'clock. Rev. Galbreath (sic), a Presbyterian minister held the funeral services and her remains laid away by kind sympathising hands. She leaves a husband here and a sister at Sayre to mourn her departure. The entire community deeply sympathise with the bereaved. --------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ok/beckham/beckham.html
