SMITH, DANIEL H.
(18 May 1911, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Mr. Daniel H. Smith who lived four miles southwest of Erick died at the
home of his daughter, Mrs.  M. L. Langhan near LeForse, Texas, Gray
County, whither he went several months ago to visit.  He had been in poor
health for twelve years and had been confined to his bed for about two and
one-half months prior to his death.  Mr. Smith was born October 19th,
1844, in McNary county, Tenn., moved to Texas in 1853, was married in 1868
to Mrs. Mary R. Bull and to them were born several children.  He was a
sweet spirited christian gentleman and had been a consistent member of the
M. E. Church South since young manhood.  He was a kind, affectionate
husband and father, a good neighbor and was highly esteemed by his widow
and six children as follows:  Mrs. M. L. Langhan of LeForse, Texas, Mrs.
W. D. Daniels, Mrs. J. H. Jackson and Mr. J. G. Smith of Erick, Mr. Chas.
W. Smith of LeForse, Texas and Mr. Omer E. Smith of Idaho.
Funeral services were conducted at LeForse April 18th, by Rev. Haines a
presbyterian minister, and interment was made there that day.

D. H. Smith Dead.
Because no one told us we were unable to notice the death of Mr. D. H.
Smith, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. M. L. Langham, of LaFors, Texas,
sometime ago.  The old gentleman suffered a general break down and died at
the age of 66 years and six months.  The deceased homesteaded a farm some
four miles southwest of Erick.
Mr. Smith, during his life time was highly respected and leaves many
friends and relatives to mourn his loss.
