SPENCER, JOHN C.
(24 Feb 1910, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Word was received here last Friday morning announcing the death of John C.
Spencer at Honey Grove, Texas, his old home.  For some years Mr. Spencer
has been a sufferer from stomach trouble and his friends had given up hope
of his recovery and were prepared for the worst.
John Spencer was one of the old settlers of this part of the country and
owned a fine farm southwest of Erick.  He was deputy sheriff in old Greer
county and served in the same capacity in Beckham up to the time of his
death.  He was office deputy under Sheriff Cope during his term.
Mr. Spencer has many friends all over Beckham county who will be sorry to
learn of his death.  He leaves a wife and five small children to mourn his
death.  The Democrat extends condolence.
