SPIVEY, MARTHA VIRGINIA
(11 Mar 1926, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
Mrs. Martha Virginia Spivey was born in Paris, Texas, July 9th, 1861, Died
March 6th, 1926 at Erick, Okla.; age 66 (sic) years 8 months and 27 days. 
She was married to Mr. Jefferson Lorenzo Spivey, who died April 12th,
1913.  To this union was born seven children, five boys and two girls. 
One of her daughters preceded her in death in the year of 1902.
Mrs. Spivey united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, South when
thirty-one years of age and for thirty five years she walked faithfully
with her Lord.  At her death she was a member of the Erick M. E. Church,
South and it was in this church that her pastor preached her funeral while
a large number of her relatives and friends were assembled, after which
interment took place in the Mayfield cemetery, near the city on March 8th,
1926.
The writer had the privilege of knowing Grandmother Spivey in her last
days here on this earth and to him she was an inspiration as she was to
all whom she met.  She loved her church and her God above all.  She was a
devoted mother and grandmother and gave her love and energy for the
comfort of all whom she met.
--- Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Price and baby of Long View, Texas, left Tuesday
for their home after being in attendance at the funeral of Mrs. Price's
mother, Mrs. Martha Spivey.
Mr. B. L. Spivey left for his home in Duncan Tuesday, after being called
here Saturday on account of the death of his mother.
