(19 Aug 1926, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): DIED. Grandpa G. M. Stewart passed away at the home of his son, I. C., last Monday, August 16th. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist Tabernacle Wednesday, August 18th., the Erick Masonic Lodge of which he was a member was in charge of the services. We will print the obituary next week. (26 Aug 1926, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. G. M. Stewart was born August 9th, 1841, in Lumpkin County, Georgia and died at his home in Erick, August 16th, 1926, at 11 o'clock A.M., being 85 years and 7 days old at the time of his death. He was married to Miss Charlotte Roach July 26th, 1863 at Rome, Georgia, and to this union were born 11 children, six of whom have preceded him to yonder shore. W. G. M. Stewart died in Texas 1886; Thomas P. Stewart died June 1st 1874; James E. Stewart died September 9th 1889; Charles F. Stewart died at Erick, Okla., December 10th, 1916, and Thomas E. Stewart died at Lindsay, California, on July 2nd, 1926. Four children are now living, Mrs. S. N. Wilson; Mr. I. C. Stewart; Mrs. C. C. Flanagan and Mr. S. J. Stewart of Lindsay, California. Mr. G. M. Stewart joined the M. E. Church in Rome, Georgia, about sixty years ago and continued a member of same through his long life. He became a member of the Masonic Lodge more than fifty years ago in Rome, Georgia, and was a member of Erick Lodge No. 237 at the time of his death. He had been in poor health for some time and had suffered a great deal for a number of years, but the end came sooner than expected.
