All rights reserved. http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/copyright.htm ************************************************ STEWART, JAMES WILLIAM (23 Jun 1927, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): James William Stewart was born near Wild Rose, Waushara County, Wisconsin, May 21st 1853. His parents were Elisha J. Stewart and Jane C. Jeffers both of New York State. He was of Scotch-Irish ancestry directly descendant from Mary, Queen of Scots. His grandparents were pioneers to New York state, his parents were among the first settlers in Wisconsin and he, himself, was one of the first to migrate to Smith County, Kansas. He was married February 13th, 1892 at Smith Center, Kansas, to May A. Farr of Harlan, Kansas. To this union was born one child, Mrs. A. P. Pennington of Erick, Oklahoma. After his marriage, he lived in Kansas and was influential politically until 1911, when he moved to Okla., to the Texola community. After only a short stay he moved to Alva, Okla., where he resided until coming to Erick three years ago. He has been a partial invalid for nearly three years, the climax coming three months ago when the final chapter of his life was begun, which ended June 21st, 1927, when he was called to his longed for rest at the age of 74 years and one month. His father, mother, and sister and one brother have preceded him in death, but he leaves besides his wife and daughter, a brother, Charles, of Nampa, Idaho; a sister, Kate Taylor of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and numerous other relatives in Wisconsin and Kansas.
