(4 Jun 1925, Thursday, Erick Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Samuel N. Stratton died Saturday May 30th at his home in Plains, New Mexico, after an illness of stomach trouble. The corpse was brought here Tuesday on the 6:04 (train) and funeral services were conducted at the Erick cemetery at 6:30 p.m., by Rev. Geo. Hutto of the First Baptist Church. Samuel N. Stratton was born June 8, 1881, at Hope, Ark., married Mary Brawley in 1897 at Weatherford, Tex. He leaves a wife and six children. Mrs. Stratton of Plains, N. M., Mrs. Hazel Beasley of Huston, and son Sam Stratton of Plains, N.M., accompanied the body here and Barney Stratton of Oklahoma City met them here. Mr. Stratton and family resided in Erick for 18 years, and he at one time owned the Brick Building that Herring & Young Store occupies, and a farm south of town, and his home in Erick. He was a pioneer settler having come here when Erick was in its infancy. He was favorably known by a number of people here, who were grieved to learn of his death.
