(14 Aug 1930, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Lee Powell, local ginner and cotton merchant, returning Saturday night with his wife and other relatives from a visit in Colorado, reported that in passing through Walsenberg, Colorado, last Friday he learned of an automobile accident near that city in which Dr. W. C. Threldkeld, physician and surgeon of Sweetwater, had received serious injuries that may prove fatal. According to informants of Mr. Powell the Doctor was en route to Wyoming in his automobile to return Mrs. Threldkeld to the home in Sweetwater following a visit there. The story is told that the Doctor was in a wreck with another car which he attempted to pass and in doing so his car came upon a road grader on the highway into which he crashed with such force that his car was thrown clear over the road machine and in the crash he received a crushed chest and several broken ribs. He was at once removed to a hospital in the Colorado town where he was reported to be in a critical condition late Tuesday night according to a telegram received here Tuesday by Tom Smith, a tenant on the Threldkeld farm near Sweetwater. (21 Aug 1930, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): REMAINS TO ADA FOR INTERMENT The remains of Dr. W. C.
