W. Van Hooser was born in Polk county, Iowa, June 8, 1876 and died Feb. 12, 1910, aged 33 years, 8 month and 4 days. She was married on Sept. 23, 1893 in Des Moines, Ia., to Mr. G. W. Van Hooser, to this union one child was born which died in infancy. For 14 years prior to her death she had been a sufferer, a previous surgical operation failing to give relief. Early in the week she went to Shawnee for the purpose of another operation in the hope of being permanently cured, but the surgeons found her condition much more serious than was expected. She died from the shock of the operation shortly after being removed from the operating table. Her remains were removed to undertaking room for preparation for burial from there to the home of Mr. Van Hooser's sister, Miss Emma Van Hooser on North Broadway. On Monday they were brought to her home at Erick for interment. The train was met by many sympathizing friends and relatives. A short service was conducted at the cemetery by Bro. T. J. Solomon. There was no phase of the situation she had not discussed with her husband and was resigned to her fate. Many friends surrounded her last hours with kindness and her bereaved husband is grateful for the many courtesies shown him by friends and neighbors. Miss Van Hooser and J. O. Lindley of Elk City, sister and cousin of Mr. Van Hooser attended the funeral. (17 Feb 1910, Erick Altruist, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mrs. George W. Van Hooser was born in Polk county, Iowa, June 8, 1876 and died February 12, 1910, aged 33 years, 8 months and 4 days. She was married on September 23, 1893, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Mr. George W. Van Hooser. To their union one child was born, who died in infancy. Deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James T. Brooks. Her father died at his home six miles east of Erick about two years ago.
