(7 Feb 1907, Greer County Republican, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Sudden Death The people of Erick were shocked last Saturday morning to learn of the sudden death of our esteemed fellow townsman, Mr. John Wadlow, who died early Saturday morning after an illness of less than one week. In fact he was up and dressed the evening before he died. Mr. Wadlow was known and invariably esteemed highly by everyone in this vicinity. He was emphatically a good man, and his death is sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends. He is survived by his widow, three minor children, a brother and numerous others less closely related in this vicinity. Rev. Liddell conducted the funeral services at the family home at Erick Sunday afternoon, and the Modern Woodman lodge, of which the deceased was an honored member, conducted their ceremonies at the grave, all of which were most impressive. Mrs. Wadlow and her children have the heartfelt sympathy of her neighbors, all of whom are her sincere friends. The announcement of Mr. Wadlow's sudden death, when he was apparently in the bloom of sturdy, healthful manhood compels reflection upon the uncertainty of life and should tend to influence mankind to prepare for the end of life. --------------------------------------------------------- Return to Beckham County Archives: http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ok/beckham/beckham.htm
