Mr. Joseph H. Watkins, aged 56 years, died at his home in West Erick, last Monday morning, Nov. 25, at 10 o'clock, and was buried in the Erick cemetery on Tuesday. Services were conducted by Rev. J. F. Elder. The affliction of the deceased 's relatives and friends is made all the more sad by reason of the fact that Mr. L. H. Watkins, a brother of Joseph, and who was taken to Colorado Springs, Texas, about three weeks ago, for the benefit of his health, died on Nov. 13 - only 12 days previous to the death of Joseph H. Joseph H. leaves a wife and nine children to mourn his demise and these have the heartfelt sympathy of all in their affliction. (28 Nov 1907, Thursday, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): Mr. Joseph Henry Watkins died at his home in Erick, Okla., at 10 a.m. on the 25th of November, age 57 (sic) years, was buried on the 26 in the Erick cemetery. Mr. Watkins was one of the first settlers of Erick and was highly respected citizen of the community.
