H. Whitworth who died after a weeks illness of a complication of liver and stomache (sic) troubles, was held at the Baptist church in this city Sunday afternoon by Rev. H. G. Finley, after which the remains were interred in the Erick cemetery. There was a large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives present. Prof. Whitworth was a graduate of the S. W. School of Music at Dallas and well known in this section. He had been a member of the Baptist church for the past 21 years. (21 Jun 1917, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK): On June 9th 1917 at his home near Sayre, Okla. There passed from earth to heaven Bro. Willie Holman Whitworth whose christian character and loyal devotion to God and his church, won for him numerous friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Whitworth was a splendid Evangelietic (sic) singer, he loved to sing the Gospel songs and loved lost souls. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. His parents moved to Tex. He was converted at 12 years of age; joined the Baptist church. He was married to Miss Fannie Patterson, 8 children were born to them 7 are now living, also two sisters Mrs. S. R. Warren of Erick and Mrs. J. M. Martin of Erath County, Texas. Bro. Whitworth was 45 years old. May the God of all grace sustain the bereaved companion, children and loved ones. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church and the body was laid to rest in the Erick cemetery. CARD OF THANKS May the blessings of God rest upon every one of you.
