WIANT, SAMUEL ROSE
(29 Jun 1911, Beckham County Democrat, Erick, Beckham Co, OK):
The death angel has again visited our community, and taken one of our
noble christian men.  Samual (sic) Rose Waint (sic) was born in N. Y. July
16th, 1829, died June 19, 1911 at the home of his grandson, Mr. C. L.
Cooper.  Mr. Wiant left his native state N. Y. at the age of 16 and went
to Wisconsin.  He moved from there to Kansas, to Nebr. and then to
Mobeetie, Tex., where he spent the later part of his life.  He was married
at about 22 years of age, to Miss Hull, who died in Feb, 1897.  Granpa
Wiant, as he was generally called, always had a smile and a cheerful
greeting for everyone.
He was a devoted christian having served in the ministry 30 years was a
member of the United Brethren church, and a faithful worker for Christ. 
He expressed himself, as ready to go, and was only waiting for the
summons.  He leaves relatives and a host of friends to mourn his loss. 
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Montgomery.
