He was born January 31st, 1871 in Ill. He moved to Texas early in life and came to Oklahoma among the first settlers. He leaves to mourn his departure, father and mother, wife, and two children, namely; Mrs. Wiley Price of Leforse, Texas, Mrs. Lock Sewell of Texola, also five sisters and two brothers, Del(Dee?) Graves of Clayton, New Mexico; George Graves of Canyon, Texas; Mrs. Bob Bassett, Erick, Oklahoma; Mrs. P.A. Berry, Mrs. Will Travelstead, and Mr(s). F. O. Short of Texola, Oklahoma; and Mrs. McDonald of Erick, Oklahoma, also three grand children; Billy, Waylene, and Claudia Ann Price. Mr. Graves was a member of the Texola Baptist church, and one of the most prominent citizens of the town. He was a very public spirited man, and had a keen interest in all civic welfare, and labored unceasingly for the promotion of all civic enterprises which he believed to be for the betterment of his community. The funeral was conducted at the Texola Baptist church. The Texola lodge of the I. O. O. F. of which he was a member, was present at the church, and had charge of the services at the cemetery. Rev. S. N. Wilson of Erick, Oklahoma, a friend of the family for many years, conducted the services at the church.
