December 4, 1929 In the death of John D. Graves, 66, who died at his home in Texola, Tuesday, December 3rd., another pioneer citizen of Beckham Co. has crossed the Great Divide. Dee Graves moved to this country with his parents about thirty years ago settling on a farm some six miles west of Erick on the Correction line where he still owns a fine farm home. Mr. Graves, was honest, honorable and fair in his dealings; a Christian gentleman and one who will be missed by his legion of friends here and elsewhere. Funeral services were held from Texola Baptist Church, Wednesday, afternoon conducted by Rev. S. N. Wilson of Erick, followed by interment in Texola Cemetery under the direction of D. G. Fatheree. He contracted a deep cold more than a week ago which developed into pneumonia in a few days, and all efforts of physicians to stop the disease proving unavailing, death came quickly.
