When he considered himself old enough to marry and settle down to a life in his own home,he found his ideal in the person of Miss Ima McCOLUM (McCOLLOM).They were happily married last December and lived happily until his death, which was very sudden. He was at home at work on the farm when he was alarmed with an awful pain in his side.On being rushed to the Tisdal Hospital at Elk City,it was discovered that he had a dangerous case of appendicitis. He was operated the following morning but it proved to be too late.He died on the 16th of October in spite of all the true, trained, and loving hands could do for him.His body was turned over to GRUBITZ & Son to prepare for burial, which was neatly done. His remains were shipped to Carter Monday on the noon train,a host of friends and relatives went along. When the train arrived at Carter the autos were so numerous that it required considerable time to line the procession up properly. From the station a long line of cars followed the casket to the silent city of the dead. It was a sad,sad assembly indeed, men, women, and children were shodding tears of sympathy. When the services reached the proper point the top section of the lid was removed and while we sang some old familiar songs the people all formed a line passing slowly by on the south side of the casket taking a last look at Lee's remains, the crowd was so large (there being at least 1,800 present)and all seemed anxious to see.I have never witnessed a funeral in a small town where so many were present. I observed that the relatives were sorely distressed, those who attracted my attention most were the father, wife and sister. His wife was completly worn out,her self-control was gone and it was only through the watchful and patient attention of a few faithful ladies and Dr.DENBY that she was able to remain at the grave through the service. His sister was sobbing like her heart would break or crying right out.The poor father was pale and his whole frame shook at times as if he had the palsy.I have been requested to Thank the Doctors, nurses and all neighbors and friends for any kindness shown. I hereby extend my sincere sympathy to all the bereaved ones of his family, and pray that God's choicest blessings may ever attend them as they complete their journey through life. Sincerely, J.A.CULLUM,minister for the Church of Christ,Elk City,Oklahoma
