The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net/ *********************************************************************** ** NOTE * HENSON,HERBERT EDGAR "HUB' b.14 Feb 1895 d.12 Jan 1988 buried Carter cemetery *Carter,Beckham Co.,Ok., m.Eva L.(SMITH) 18 Dec 1925 s/o A.J.& Elizabeth ************************************************************ Herbert Edgar "Hub"HENSON was born Feb 14,1895 in Greer County,Texas to A.J. and Elizabeth HENSON.He was married to Eva L SMITH on Dec.18,1925 in Marked Tree,Ark.They lived in Carter,Oklahoma most of their married life.Mr.HENSON was a graduate of the Kansas City Conservatory of Music and The School of Mines.He worked as a mechanic when he was young and later farmed the land that he was born on.He was a World War One veteran and was decorated with the Purple Heart.He was a member of The Odd Fellows for 50 years.He served Carter as Mayor and as a city councilman.He served as Commander and Post Commander of the Carter American Legion.He was a lifetime member of the IOOF.He was an avid hunter.He was preceded in death by his wife Eva,two brothers and three sisters.Survivors include one daughter,Alma Jo JENKINS of Carter,two granddaughters and five great-grandchildren,one sister Jane BLASS of Oklahoma City,and a host of nieces,nephews and other relatives and friends.Mr.HENSON passed away at Elk City Community Hospital on Jan.12,1988.He was 92. Services were scheduled for today at 3 p.m. at The United Methodist Church of Carter.Interment will be a full military service at the Carter cemetery with People's of Lone Wolf.
