He was born June 5,1848 in Henderson County,Texas,living there until he was eleven years of age then moved,with his parents,to Jack Co.,Texas. At the age of 32 he was married to Miss Jane Elizabeth Hensley.To this union were born seven children.All living except Dude,who preceded him six months. Mr.and Mrs.HENSON moved to Hutchington county,Texas,in 1889.Then moved to Greer county,Texas,which is now Greer county,Oklahoma.In 1899 he was made sad by the death of his wife. In 1903 he filed on a farm near Carter.In 1910 he was married to Mrs.Georgia Haggard.They moved to Carter in 1916 and have made their home until the time of his death. Uncle Jack was prepared to go,being a devout member of the Baptist Church. He was well known and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. He is survived by his wife and four daughters,Mrs.Callie KNOX of Amarillo,Texas,Mrs.Willis HAWKINS of Sayre,Mrs.Grover THOMAS of Willow and Mrs.Janie VAN VACTER of Oklahoma City,and two sons,Willie and Herbert,of Carter and a host of other relatives and friends. He was buried Sunday,June 14,in the Carter cemetery.Rev.Mr.ABBOTT officiating.All of the children were present.Other relatives attending were Mrs.Jim HENSON of Guyman,Oklahoma,Mrs.Margaret Cotrell of Plains,Kansas,Mrs.Eula GOODNIGHT and Mrs. Louie ADAMS of hooker,Oklahoma,Mr.and Mrs.Asberry CALAGBAN of Panhandle,Texas,Mr.and Mrs.C.W.HALLMARK and son,Joe of Altus,Lloyd HALLMARK and family and Allen HALLMARK of Electra,Texas,Mr.and Mrs.Alfred SMITH of Jacksboro,Texas,Mr.and Mrs.Joe HENSON,Mr.and Mrs.Jerry LAUDERDALE,L.O.GRAHAM,Mrs.FIELDS,Mrs.Larry and daughter,Mr.and Mrs.George KIRBY,all of Elk City ,Mrs.Gertrude ROSE,Mrs.Pat HILL and Mr.and Mrs.John EDWARDS and Mrs. BEESON of Sayre,Billie IVY and wife and Louie MORRISON and wife of McLEAR.
