Livingston was captured by Constable Elmer Ren- ner, of Erick, after a sensational automobile race on the highway near Hydro. The capture of Livingston term- inated one of the most extensive manhunts ever conducted in West- ern Oklahoma. Beginning shortly after last midnight, the chase had included practically all Western Oklahoma peace officers. All Elk City and Beckham coun- ty officers were engaged in the search of Livingston at the time of his capture and some of them had not returned late this after- noon, not having received inform- ation of the capture. KILLING AT DANCE The killing of Holder occurred shortly after last midnight at a dance two miles south of the car- bon plant at Sayre. "Home brew" was ascribed by officers as the cause of the homi- cide. Holder was shot through the heart, according to physicians, and was killed instantly. Ollie Lee, a bystander, received a slight scalp wound as Livingston fired at Holder. Holder was about 25 years old. He was married recently. Livingston, about 28 or 29 years old, is married and has two chil- dren. His mother and other rela- tives live at Cheyenne but he had been living at Sayre for several months. Livingston fled from the scene of the crime and all available of- ficers began a search for him im- mediately. Sheriff W. T. Velvin offered a reward for his capture this morning. No charge had been filed against Livingston this afternoon, pending completion of an investigation into the slaying of Holder. The county attorney's and sher- iff's departments were extremely busy last night and today and no effort was made to immediately file charges. Elk City News 26 May 1933. Ira L.
