Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hughs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Canadian with Michael Coplan officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery in Canadian. Mrs. Ballard was born on Sept. 23, 1914, in Buford, Ariz., to John Bettis and Mary Newton Bettis. She attended grammar school in Paden, Okla., and high school in Canadian. She moved to Canadian in November 1928 from Paden. She married Wiley B. Ballard on Dec. 1, 1934. They moved to Higgins in 1944 where she operated a feed and ice store. They then moved to Midland where they operated a gas station until retiring in 1968. They then moved to Del Rio in 1995 from Elk City, Okla. She was also a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 9, 1955; and a grandson, Robert Ballard. Survivors include two sons, Wiley Ballard and wife, Barbara, of Chandler and Jerry Ballard and wife, Diane, of Madison, Ala.; a daughter, Marilyn Johnson of Del Rio; eight grandchildren, Roger Johnson and wife, Yolanda, of San Antonio, Karen Coplan and husband, Michael, of Del Rio, Cheryl Stidham and husband, Monty, of Del Rio, LaRheasa Tidwell and husband, Tommy, of Powder Springs, Ga., Michael Ballard of Arlington, Kevin Ballard and wife, Lori, of Siminole, Fla, Kim Nichols and husband, Rick, of Madison, Ala., and Patrick Ballard and wife, Stacy, of Hope Mill, N.C.; two brothers, Harold Bettis and wife, Mary, of Mertzon and Carl Bettis and wife, Geneiva, of Bullhead City, Ariz.; two sisters, Jean Smith of Celeste and Jewel Barfield of Elk City, Okla.; nine great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren The family suggest memorials be to the Hemphill County Hospice, 1020 S.
