Mabel Irene Bates

Mabel Irene Bates of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home
Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Ken Cole, associate
pastor of St. Stephen United Methodist Church, officiating, assisted by Roger
Morris. Private entombment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum by
Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bates was born in Montague County and was a resident of Amarillo since
January 1991.

She was married to George L. Bates on Aug. 14, 1946, in Los Angeles. He
preceded her in death in 2000.

Survivors include three nieces, Marceill Skinner of Amarillo, Mickie Gaines of
Willis and Carolyn Hanson of Elk City, Okla.; three nephews, David Swanson of
Winthrop, Maine, Cecil Burks of Oklahoma City and Bill Burks of Elk City; and
several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family will be at 7126 Adirondack.

The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Botanical Gardens, 1400 Streit
Drive, Amarillo, TX 79106.
