Barbara Jean Bates
Barbara Jean Bates, 72, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, April 25, 2001. 

Family services were held at Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler. Arrangements were by 
Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle.

Mrs. Bates was born in Elk City, Okla., and had been a lifetime resident of 
Amarillo. She graduated from Texas Woman's University in 1989. 

Survivors include four daughters, Ruth Marie Huntley of Littleton, Colo., 
Joan Carol Bates of Austin, Donna Darrell Walker of Amarillo and Trudy Darlene 
Van Dyke of San Mateo, Calif.; a son, Danny Pat Bates of Garland; three sisters, 
Gertrude Jones of Wichita Falls, Vergie Guynes of Borger and Joan Thornberry of 
Claude; 16 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren.
