All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Maude Brown Blaylock SHAMROCK - Maude Brown Blaylock, 94, died Wednesday, July 30, 2003, in Elk City, Okla. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Shamrock Church of Christ with Roger Todd of Mangum, Okla., and Cottie Tarbet officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Blaylock was born Aug. 21, 1908, in Blanket. Her family moved to the Cottonwood Community near Wellington in 1915 from Blanket. After completing the elementary at Cottonwood, She attended the Lillie school before entering the Demonstration School at West Texas Teachers College, where she earned her teaching certificate. Her first teaching assignment was in a one-room school in the China Grove community in 1930. She also taught in the Samnorwood school system for several years, as well as Shamrock and Panhandle, where she retired in 1974. She married Raymond R. Brown on April 14, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1977. She married Ottis Blaylock in 1979, who also preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Don Brown of Seattle and Jerry Brown of Clarendon; a daughter, Shirley Waters of Erick, Okla.; three sisters, Thelma Brewer of Spokane, Wash., Burnice Hicks of Amarillo and Marie Jackson of Wellington; five grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Samnorwood Scholarship Fund; or High Plains Children's Home. Amarillo Globe-News, Aug. 1, 2003
