All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Jack Shadid Brooks LUBBOCK - Jack Shadid Brooks, 51, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today in St. John's United Methodist Church in Lubbock with the Rev. Kathryn Boren officiating. Private burial will be in East Mound Cemetery in Matador by Rix Funeral Directors. Mr. Brooks was born June 6, 1952, in Elk City, Okla., the son of the late Jack D. and LaWanda Brooks. Shad graduated from Brownfield High School in 1970 and earned his BA from Texas Tech University in 1974. He married Brigid Barton on Feb. 26, 1987, in Lubbock. Shad was co-owner of Contractors Choice Supply in Lubbock. Among his many activities, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta, a Master Mason, a Silver Spur Sponsor of Boys Ranch and a scholarship donor to the Red Raider Club. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Erin Stevens and husband, Donovan, and Lindsay Saunders and husband, Jamie, all of Houston; a son, Shilo Brooks of Lubbock; two granddaughters, Meagan and Anna Saunders, both of Houston; a brother, Shannon Brooks and wife, Tracie, of Amarillo; a nephew, Shane Brooks of Amarillo; a niece, Analisa Brooks of Amarillo; and a host of dear family and friends. Bundy H. Campbell, Mike Chism, Danny Harrelson, Pat Hickman, Johnny Lutrick and Vernie Moore will serve as pallbearers. The family suggests memorials be to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, P.O.
