Welch Childress, 74, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Rockwall Chapel at Rest Haven Funeral Home at Rockwall with the Rev. Scott McManus officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery at Canadian with the Rev. Rick Timmons, pastor of Central Baptist Church of Canadian, officiating. Arrangements are by Rest Haven Funeral Home of Rockwall and Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mrs. Welch was born in Ada, Okla. A longtime resident of Canadian, she worked as a waitress. She married Delmar C. Welch in 1943 at Arnett, Okla. He died in 1967. She married Cloris B. Childress in 1975. He died in 1994. Survivors include four daughters, Virginia Pruitt and Nancy Wainwright, both of Elk City, Okla., Bobbie Brumley of Terrell, and Gladys Hutton of Taylor; three sons, Luther C. Welch of Las Vegas, Delmar H. Welch of Nevada, and Jim B. Welch of Celeste; two sisters, Evelyn Carter of Amarillo and Goldie Beck of Locust Grove, Okla.
