   James Michael Davis
   
   PANHANDLE  - James Michael "Mike" Davis, 50, of Panhandle and formerly
   of Spearman, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001.
   
   Services  will  be  at  2  p.m.  Friday  at  First Christian Church of
   Spearman  with  the  Rev.  Gary  Smith  officiating. Burial will be at
   Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors.
   
   Mr. Davis graduated from Spearman High School in 1969. He was a member
   of the First Christian Church in Spearman.
   
   He  excelled  in  football,  basketball  and  track in high school. He
   attended  Southern  Methodist University and Pratt Junior College on a
   football scholarship.
   
   Mr.  Davis  was involved in the cattle business most of his life. Most
   recently, he operated an income tax office.
   
   He   was  preceded  in  death  by  a  grandson,  Blake  Meier;  and  a
   father-in-law, Don Gensman.
   
   Survivors  include  his  wife,  Donita  Davis;  sons,  Ryan  Davis and
   Nicholas  "Nick" Davis both of Amarillo; stepchildren, Shelley Sanders
   of  Amarillo,  Shelby Meier of Elk City, Okla., and Shanda Tompkins of
   Buhler,  Kan.;  his  parents,  Irvin  and  Betty  Davis of Spearman; a
   mother-in-law,  Irene Gensman of Darrouzett; a sister, Phyllis Collins
   of Spearman; and a brother, Jerry Pat Davis of Amarillo.
   
   The  family  suggests,  in  lieu  of flowers, memorials be to the Mike
   Davis  Scholarship  Fund, First State Bank, P.O. Box 247, Spearman, TX
   and First Christian Church, P.O. Box 637, Spearman, TX 79081.
