Hays, 87, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, in Amarillo Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the First Baptist Church. Officiants are the Rev. Norman Jones, pastor of Elk Creek Primitive Baptist Church at Elk City, Okla., and the Rev. T. J. Pittman, pastor of Wellington Primitive Baptist Church at Wellington. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Hays was born in Oklahoma. He moved to Wheeler County in 1929. He was a farmer and an elder of the Primitive Baptist Church. He married Doris Aderholt in 1933 at Mobeetie. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jerry Hays of Amarillo, Duane Hays of Victorville, Calif., Ronny Hays of Lubbock and Tommy Hays of Fritch; one daughter, Patricia Crossland of Garden City, Kan.; a half-brother, Daries Witt of White Deer; a half-sister, Violet Harrill of Burneyville, Okla.; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild.
