All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Cyril H. Hedrick Cyril H. Hedrick, 76, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage, with the Rev. George Haddox, pastor of Cliffside Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ural Cemetery at Elk City, Okla. Mr. Hedrick was born in Magazine, Ark., and moved to Elk City, Okla., in 1929. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He married Wilma Garretson in 1948 at Sayre, Okla. They moved to Perryton in 1948, to Hartley in 1952 and to Vega in 1961. He worked for International Harvester in Hartley and Vega and was manager of the Sands-Best Western Hotel for several years. While living in Vega, he was a volunteer fireman, president of the Vega Kiwanis Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. They retuned to Elk City in 1987 and moved to Amarillo in 1993. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Conway of Amarillo; a son, Danny Luther Hedrick of Amarillo; three sisters: Priscilla Henthorn of Stroud, Okla., Vernoma Brannon of Quemando, N.M., and Reba Lamp of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Buford Taylor of Amarillo and Nova Hedrick of Lafayette, La.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at 1918 Aspen. Mr. Hedrick's family requests memorial donations be to Veteran's Affairs Medical Center or the American Diabetes Foundation.
