All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Lily Irene Laxton Lily Irene Laxton 81, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 23, 2006. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Erick Cemetery in Erick, Okla., with Richard Evans officiating. Local arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Laxton was born May 15, 1924, in Erick to Hezekiah and Della Luman. She married Doc Laxton in 1944 in Erick and resided in Sayre, Okla. After Doc Laxton's passing in 1992, she moved to Amarillo to be near her four children. She lived at Independence Village until her death. She enjoyed the staff and the many special friends she made there. The family wishes to express their appreciation of the professional care she received at Northwest Texas Hospital and especially the wonderful staff at SCCI/Triumph Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings; her husband; and a grandson, Coly Garland Laxton. Survivors include three daughters, Linda Ward, Bunny Provence and Debbie McCarty, all of Amarillo, and a son, Brian Laxton of Amarillo. Irene enjoyed her sons-in-law and a very special, loving daughter-in-law, Cynthia Laxton, all of Amarillo. She is also survived by two sisters, Jody Swaner of Sayre and Donna Holland of Erick; two brothers, Corky Luman of Amarillo and David Luman of Iowa Park; and 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren who called her "Sweet Granny." The family suggests memorials be to City Church Outreach Ministry, 205 S. Polk St., Amarillo, TX 79101.
