Curtis Lay

MELROSE, N.M. - Curtis Lay, 88, died Monday, March 8, 2004.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe
Bunce officiating. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral
Home of Clovis.

Mr. Lay was born Sept. 21, 1915, in Berlin, Okla. He married Ora Blackburn on
Dec. 4, 1936, in Berlin.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Violet Widner of Duncanville, Texas;
three sons, Curtis Lay Jr. of Lubbock, Texas, and Johnny Lay and Jim Lay, both
of Melrose; a sister, Jane Stephens of Elk City, Okla.; 14 grandchildren; and
13 great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Melrose; or Baptist
Children's Home in Portales.
