Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Walt Ellis, pastor of Forest Hill Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Cemetery in Quitaque. Mrs. Mayes was born March 7, 1915, in Cloud Chief, Okla. She married Frank Leon Mayes on May 3, 1949, in Silverton. She was a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years and was a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in July 1989; a daughter-in-law, Gwen Randell in November 1998; and a son, Willard Calvin Randell in April 2001. Survivors include two sons, Mitchel Randell and wife, Sarah, of Vian, Okla., and James Randell and wife, Jan, of Elk City, Okla.; two daughters, Wanda Jones and husband, James, and Shirley Vessel and husband, Ronnie, all of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Norma Randell of Vian; a brother, Louis Randell of Turkey; three sisters, Alice Everett and Ola Faye Hiser, both of Lubbock, and Bonnie Breece of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Nursing Center; Forest Hill Baptist Church; or a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, Sept. 17, 2002
