Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St., with Mark Zimmerman, pastor of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. McClain was born in Quail, Collingsworth County. He was the first-born son to Rube McClain and Angie Clara Calloway. He attended Wellington schools and was a graduate of the class of 1948. He graduated from Amarillo College in electronic engineering. He lived in Roswell, Alamogordo and Carlsbad, N.M., before moving to Pampa. He had lived in Pampa for more than 25 years before moving to Amarillo. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wellington where he was baptized as a young man. He married Catherine Joy Payne Johnson on Feb. 22, 1976, in Carlsbad. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys football fan, golfer and fisherman. He was very family oriented and took great pride in the accomplishments of his grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and great-nieces and nephews. He died following a car accident in Wellington. Pallbearers are Gary Swinney, J.B. Andrews, Bob Dobbins, Pat Langford, Mark Martin, John Dobbins, Bryon Rogers and Brent Hickmott. He was preceded in death by his wife; his father and mother; a nephew, M.K. Reeves; a brother, Franklin Rudolph McClain; a brother-in-law, Jack Ball Jr.; two sisters-in-law, Blonde and Janette; and two brothers-in-law, John Paul Sanders and Archie Porter. Survivors include two brothers, Willis Henry "Hank" McClain and wife, Ina, of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Danny Michael McClain and wife, Melissa, of Amarillo; two sisters, Jo Rogers and husband, Don, and Joyce Martin and her grandson, Cuyler Waddell; his children, Tammy Langford and husband, Pat, and two grandsons, Zach and Seth, of Elk City, Okla., Jimmy Johnson and wife, Teresa, and grandson, Brandon, and granddaughter, Brittany, of Panhandle; nieces, Belinda Andrews and husband, J.B., and their sons, Bryon Rogers, Dakota Covel and Zeke Covel; Also, Clete, Zeke and Trey Andrews; Angie and husband, Brent Hickmott, and their children, Tanner, Alyssa, Kristen and Caleb of Amarillo; a very special niece, Elizabeth Swinney and husband, Gary, of Pampa, and their sons, Jeremy of Amarillo and Paul Telkamp of Lubbock; his nephews, Mark Martin and wife, Wendy, and their son, Chase, John Dobbins and son, Jeremiah, of Amarillo, Rusty McClain of Cheyenne and Darvin McClain and daughter, Megan, of Cheyenne and niece, Sammy, and her children, Rickie and Bobby of Cheyenne; nephew, Johnny and wife, Janet, Kenneth Sanders and Marie Porter of Amarillo and children, Lanette, Debbie and Marlene; his mother-in-law, Ruby Payne of Amarillo; his brother-in-law, John Otis Payne and wife, Joyce, of Lubbock and their children, Allen, Vickie, Jay and Lisa; his brother-in-law, Robert Tickner and children, Mark, J.R. and Janet of Amarillo; and his beloved aunt, Juanita Klaver of Arlington.
