All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************ Frankie Ella Roark CLOVIS, N.M. - Frankie Ella Roark, 85, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at Pensacola, Fla. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens at Clovis. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Roark was born in Elk City, Okla. She graduated from Fort Sumner High School and business college in Oklahoma. She worked at the base at Fort Sumner during World War II and at the Clovis Army Air Base after the Fort Sumner base closed. Mrs. Roark and her husband farmed west of Clovis. She later worked for the Montgomery Ward catalog department in Clovis from 1952 until 1963 when she accepted the position of administrative officer for the National Park Service at Bandelier National Monument near Los Alamos. She transferred to Lake Meredith Recreational area at Fritch, Texas, in 1971. In 1977, Mrs. Roark retired at Fritch as the recreational area's chief administrative officer. She moved to Pensacola in 1994. She married Oscar William Roark in 1936 at Santa Rosa. She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant daughter, Mickey Ferne Roark. Survivors include a son, Oscar W. "Bill" Roark of Pensacola; and a grandson, Jessie W. Roark of Pensacola.
