Bessie Simpson Rutledge
Bessie Owens Simpson Rutledge, 96, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements 
are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Rutledge was born in Indian Territory. She worked in the dietary departments of 
Memorial Hospital at Elk City, Okla., and at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital of Sulphur, Okla.

She married Chet Simpson in 1920. He died in 1935. She married William M. Rutledge in 
1938. He died in 1969. She also was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Simpson, in 1941; 
and by three daughters, Pauline Rippee, in 1986, Yvonne Grissom, in 1991, and Fern Peebles, 
in 1997.

Survivors include three sons, R.B. Simpson and Bill Simpson, both of Amarillo, and W.B. 
Rutledge of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; a daughter, Betty Feagley of Camarillo, Calif.; 
grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
